Lub Huab Ckez

Lub Huab Ckez (/lub/ /huˈab/ [up] [teacher]) is a temperate Small Town located in Thëlênêqenè County, Yuttul̄ Kingdom, within the United Kingdom of Undermountain.

The name Lub Huab Ckez is derived from the Dwarven language, as Lub Huab Ckez was founded by Tukhaekara Cÿbackhugehdew, who was culturaly Dwarvern.

Climate

Lub Huab Ckez has a yearly average temperature of 25°C (77°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 30°C (86°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 21°C (69°F). Lub Huab Ckez receives an average of 185 cm/y (72 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Lub Huab Ckez covers an area of nearly 3 km² (1 mi²), and an average elevation of 3616 m (11863 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Lub Huab Ckez was founded durring the late 15th century in spring of the year 1456, by Tukhaekara Cÿbackhugehdew. The establishment of Lub Huab Ckez was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Tukhaekara Cÿbackhugehdew electing to pay people to resettle in Lub Huab Ckez.

Lub Huab Ckez was built using the conventions of Dwarvern durring the late 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Lub Huab Ckez is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Lub Huab Ckez is buildings are located arround a single restrictive cobblestone mainstreet which forms a clockwise spiral to give the town a over all circular shape. The town sits behind a stone-renforced palisade wall, with stone gatehouses and timber drawbridges for their trench. The would-be-castle fortifications has suffered a visible ammount of structural damage, leaving them effectivly useless. One can't help but wonder why the has not yet effected repairs.

A look around Lub Huab Ckez gives you a feeling of distrust and paranoia. Also greed. The locals seem to be very much into scholastic pursuits, based on the hushed, murmured conversations you hear at least. Everyone in Lub Huab Ckez acts like they have discovered something wondrous, and are worried they will endure some horrible fate so another can take what they’ve discovered for themselves.

Cultural Notes

Lub Huab Ckez's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by grandeur of scale, simplicity of geometric forms, dramatic use of columns, and a preference for blank walls. This design ethos extended to re-imagining earlier styles of structure to create them anew, with a similar overall look and feel to one another..

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century Mount Terror, an iconic vista located neare Lub Huab Ckez, proved to be volcanic when the mountain erupted. The eruption was isolated to the area around Lub Huab Ckez, which was swallowed in ash, lava flows, and pyroclastic gasses. Lub Huab Ckez lost 120 people, 368 livestock, and 27 buildings in the disaster. The event is forever remembered as the Day of Terror's Wrath.
